Project Title : Civic Space and Youth Empowerment

Thematic Area : Civic Space

Project Summary

Civic Space and Youth Engagement (CSYE) programme is dedicated to expanding civic space and promoting democratic values, particularly in conflict-affected communities where young people are often excluded from decision-making. CSYE creates opportunities for youth to become active citizens by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and platforms needed to engage meaningfully in public life and contribute to post-conflict reconstruction.

Through this programme, we support and strengthen local youth groups and help them organise around shared concerns, lead community initiatives, and advocate for justice, accountability, and democratic governance. We provide training in civic education, leadership, and human rights, while also promoting dialogue and coordination between youth, civil society actors, and local stakeholders. By fostering inclusive civic spaces, the programme encourages collaboration and mutual understanding among diverse groups.

In areas where repression and conflict have weakened democratic participation, CSYE helps restore a sense of agency and belonging among young people. It enables them to reimagine and rebuild their communities with a focus on equity, peace, and participatory governance.
