Coalition for a Crimes against Humanity Convention (C-CAH): Statement
Project Summary
Centre for Ah Nyar Studies joins the Coalition for a Crimes against Humanity Convention (C-CAH) in calling for inclusive, transparent and non-discriminatory negotiations towards a future Convention on Crimes Against Humanity. The coalition’s statement is endorsed by 43 organisations and 52 individuals from civil society, academia and human rights communities worldwide. It calls on states to ensure meaningful participation by civil society organisations, independent experts, and victims and survivors in shaping this landmark treaty.
The future convention must strengthen international legal standards, recognise gender-based and intersectional harms and establish an effective framework for preventing and punishing crimes against humanity. Survivors’ voices must remain central to treaty negotiations, implementation and accountability efforts.
