Human Rights Situation in Central Burma (Jan-Jun 2025)

TJ and Human Rights
This report is one of our human rights and transitional justice report series in 2025. It documents systematic and widespread violations of human rights and international crimes. Under first-hand testimonies, on-site investigations, and open-source analysis, we verified 110 attacks on civilians, 21 destructions on religious and cultural buildings, 17 extrajudicial killings, 9 arbitrary detentions, and 4 forced disappearances, mostly by Tatmadaw. Despite security challenges, our findings highlight widespread human rights violations and underscore the urgent need for accountability and justice. The report aims to contribute to the documentation efforts on the situation of human rights in central Burma and thereby to accountability for the countless number of victims, survivors and displaced families.
