What is Happening in Central Burma (Ah Nyar)? Issue (21/2025)

Sitrep
- Tatmadaw declared that they will hold the elections on December 29 in phases. Reportedly, some sources reported that they will prioritise securing their control over towns to hold elections in 63 townships, under declared martial rule.
- NUG and resistance groups, such as KNA and ICNCC, have stated their position against the military dictatorship and its planned elections.
- UWSA declared that it will no longer provide military assistance or economic support to allied ethnic armed groups during its meeting with TNLA, MNDAA, and SSPP.
- Conflicts are reportedly intense between Tatmadaw and resistance forces in townships, namely, Pauk, Kani, and Wetlet, among others, resulting in thousands of civilians being forced into displacement.
- As of 21 July, Tatmadaw’s airstrikes and artillery attacks reportedly were conducted in Seikphyu, Pauk, Depayin, and Mogoke, among others, killing civilians, children, and damaging homes and hospitals.
- After over four months of earthquakes, some affected families, Madaya township suffered severe damage to betel leaf plantations, as reported in the local sources.
