What is Happening in Central Burma (Ah Nyar)? Issue (33/2025)
Sitrep
- On November 17, Sagaing Federal Unit Hluttaw announced the appointment of the Chief Minister of the government, namely, U Soe Oo.
- On November 18, KNU and KNPP reported their temporary withdrawal from their membership in NUCC. It was due to their desire to prepare better for the political engagement, according to the KNPP secretary 1.
- On November 16, Human Rights Watch issued a statement urging governments to reject the Myanmar Tatmadaw’s planned election, saying the polls will not be free, fair, or inclusive.
- According to Scam Centre Strike Force of the United States, the cyber fraud compounds and related zones include the areas controlled by UWSA, NDAA, SSPP, Tarchileik, near the Kayin-Thai border, and Yangon. Then, BGF and Tatmadaw forces raided Shwe Koko on November 18 reported in the sources.
- In the midst of conflict and displacement, Myanmar remains classified as a hunger hotspot of “very high concern” in the latest global food security report, according to UN source.
- Some elderly people reportedly died from exposure to the cold during the winter season of Central Burma, particularly in Myaing township, Magway, while they were fleeing their homes, according to local sources.
- Conflicts are reportedly intense across several regions of Central Burma, alongside Tatmadaw military raids and continuous aerial attacks, for instance, in Wetlet, Kale, Gangaw, and Pauk, Myaing townships.
