Duration      : 3 months (self-paced, part-time and extendable)

Position Summary

Centre for Ah Nyar Studies (CAS) is seeking two Research Fellows to contribute to the Human Rights Clinic, focusing on right to health and right to education in Central Burma. Fellows will conduct in-depth research, produce thematic papers, and contribute to evidence-based advocacy efforts. Final outputs will be published on the CAS website and media outlets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research human rights violations related to health and education specifically in central Burma.
  • Produce thematic papers on issues such as healthcare access, attacks on education, militarisation of schools and hospitals, and restrictions on medical and educational services.
  • Collect and analyse primary and secondary data, including testimonies, policy documents, and open-source intelligence (OSINT).
  • Engage with experts, civil society actors, and affected communities to enhance research findings.
  • Ensure research meets ethical standards and maintains conflict sensitivity.
  • Present findings in written reports and policy briefs for publication and advocacy purposes.

Key Qualifications

  • Background in human rights, law, public policy, health, education, or social sciences.
  • Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with experience in qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Knowledge of human rights frameworks, particularly the right to health and education.
  • Some experience in report writing and policy analysis in English.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Burma’s political and social context is highly desirable.
