Project Title : Transitional Justice Club

Thematic Area : Transitional Justice

Project Summary

Background
In the face of global struggles for truth, justice, and reconciliation, transitional justice has emerged as a critical field of study and practice for societies moving through or beyond conflict, authoritarian rule, and mass atrocities. Understanding its varied approaches across different contexts is essential for those committed to human rights, peacebuilding and democratic development.

About the Club
The TJ Club, hosted under Centre for Ah Nyar Studies, is a voluntary, membership-based platform aimed at promoting open, critical, and cross-contextual discussions on transitional justice. The club brings together scholars, practitioners, students, and enthusiasts, regardless of country or regional focus, to engage in meaningful dialogue and knowledge exchange.

Objectives
• To create a community of individuals interested in the theory and practice of transitional justice
• To facilitate peer learning and reflection on global and local experiences of justice, reconciliation, and accountability
• To explore diverse themes such as truth commissions, reparations, memorialisation, institutional reform, and criminal accountability

Membership and Participation
Membership is open and free to all interested individuals. Members are invited to participate in regular discussions, reading groups, and thematic sessions hosted virtually or in hybrid format. Participation is voluntary and self-directed, while we encourage mutual learning and solidarity among members.

Activities
• Three monthly discussion sessions with invited speakers and thematic prompts
• Sharing of publications, articles, and research updates
• Occasional webinars, dialogues, or workshops in collaboration with thematic partners
• A digital forum for ongoing exchange and idea sharing

Coordination
The Club is coordinated by Centre for Ah Nyar Studies and is supported by our network of partners. Contributions from members in the form of facilitation, moderation, or thematic input are welcomed and encouraged.
