According to the World Bank’s latest economic report released on June 12, 2025, the earthquake that happened in March has caused an estimated US$11 billion in direct infrastructure damage, equivalent to 14 per cent of the country’s GDP. In terms of deaths, the state-owned source reported about 3,740 deaths, 5,104 injuries, and 66 missing as of June 8. The actual number of deaths is much higher.
