  • On September 1, NUG sent a letter to Beijing, highlighting three main requests such as to suspend recognition of the military regime, to reject involvement in or monitoring of any Tatmadaw’s organised elections, and to refrain from calling Min Aung Hlaing “acting president”.
  • On September 5, New Mon State Party-Anit Dictatorship (NMSP-AD/Ramonya Mon Army) stated they would not allow the sham elections to be held in their territories as it would prolong the military dictatorship.
  • On the other side, during the first week of September, both BGF and DKBA said they support Tatmadaw’s elections, which will be held in December 2025. For instance, the BGF stated on September 3 that it would assist in holding the elections peacefully and inclusively.
  • On September 5, Kim Aris said his mother, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, is suffering from a worsening heart condition in an unknown place. Tatmadaw source, on the other hand, expressed such reports as false, claiming they aimed to undermine Min Aung Hlaing’s recent visit to China.
  • Conflicts are reportedly intense between Tatmadaw and resistance forces in townships, namely, Bhamo, Waigmaw, Pakokku, and Thayet, among others, resulting in thousands of civilians being forced into displacement, and an urgent need for food and other necessities.
  • Tatmadaw’s airstrikes and artillery attacks reportedly were conducted in Natmaut, Yesagyo, Pauk, Butalin, and Wetlet townships, among others, killing civilians, children, and damaging homes and hospitals.
  • Until the first week of September, aftershocks have still been reported in several places, namely in Kayukse town, on September 6, causing the locals to fear.
