What is Happening in Central Burma (Ah Nyar)? Issue (25/2025)

Sitrep
- On September 16, Mandalay Region Hluttaw approved the Mandalay Interim Political Arrangement (Draft), consisting of 12 chapters, according to local sources.
- On September 14, UEC announced that it wouldn’t hold elections in 121 constituencies in 56 townships. Among them, 18 townships from Sagaing, Magway, and Mandalay are included.
- On 19 September, ULA/AA announced that it will implement more security measures in the Bangladesh border areas as Muslim fundamental organizations are attacking from bases inside Bangladesh, while its leader has reportedly met the religious leaders in Maungdaw in August.
- According to BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor, fighting incidents have decreased by more than 50 percent over the past year. Conflicts, though, are reportedly intense between Tatmadaw and resistance forces in townships, namely, Banmauk, Homalin, and Kanbalu, among others, resulting in thousands of civilians being forced into displacement, and an urgent need for food and other necessities.
- On September 20, in the afternoon, the motorcycle protest was staged in six villages of Salingyi township, as part of a campaign opposing Tatmadaw’s election, according to the Salingyi township strike force.
- Tatmadaw’s airstrikes reportedly were conducted in Myingyan and Madaya townships, Mandalay, among others, killing civilians and damaging homes and a monastery.
