What is Happening in Central Burma (Ah Nyar)? Issue (27/2025)

Sitrep
- Local sources reported that on October 7, Pyin Oo Lwin district’s strike committee was formed to enhance public participation against the military dictatorship, with full awareness of federal democracy among the public.
- Reportedly, IDPs in Sagaing and Mandalay are forced to vote for aid. The residents in some wards of Magway seem not to have an interest in checking voter lists, according to local sources.
- On October 1, Tatmadaw forces reportedly took control of Kyaukme after intense fighting with TNLA. Some sources said there will be additional negotiations among them during October.
- Conflicts are reportedly intense between Tatmadaw and resistance forces in townships, namely, Mawlaik, Myingyan, Wetlet, among others, resulting in thousands of civilians being forced into displacement, and an urgent need for food and shelter.
- NUG figures stated over 3,000 aerial attacks were conducted by Tatmadaw as of early October 2025, resulting in more than 4,000 people into death.
- On October 6, around 7:30 pm, Tatmadaw’s motorized paraglider attacks reportedly occurred in a Bonto village, Chaung U township, Sagaing, while the villagers nearby were peacefully participating Thadingyut Candlelight Strike. It resulted in killing at least 20 civilians, including children, and injuring more than 40 people. According to local aid groups, medicine and blood are urgently required for survivors who have suffered severe injuries.
- Local sources said the heavy rain and flood caused damage to fields, roads, and bridges in several townships of Magway, such as Pauk, Gangaw, Saw, Minbu, and Yenanchaung, since September 22.
